Note: Let’s assume that they are all in the same age. So in this story they are all 18 years old. J

The next day, Rin was busy doing the chores that her mom left for her. "Muuuu! Of all days, mom chose today to give these much errands!" Rin couldn't help but frown. "Oh well! This is the least I could do since mom and dad are both working hard! Yosh!" She motivated herself so she could enthusiastically do the chores.

"Hmm let's see, I need to buy this at the grocery and this in the medicine shop...," she held her shopping list and talked to herself while walking on the street. She walked as fast as she could to save time so she could stop by in the nearest bookstore. Upon arriving in the bookstore, her mood lightened up because she saw some magazines that featured her favorite band, RockStones6. Rin got some of the magazines and went to the counter to pay. While searching for her wallet, she saw Ren reading some kind of comic.

"Hi Ren-kun!" she greeted him. "Woah! I didn't notice you earlier Rin. Sorry hehe." Ren walked towards Rin to also line up for the cashier. They talked about random things after many years of not seeing each other. "Ah! Sou da, we're going to shop for yukata today right? What time is it?" Ren said and looked at his watch. "Eh? It's half past 10 already! And you're still not dressed for later I guess?" he worriedly said to Rin. "Ehh?! You're right! I have to hurry home! I'm still not done with some of the chores!" Rin was panicking. Ren offered to help her so they could proceed with the shopping day just as planned, "Don't worry! Let's go!"

When they reached Rin's house, they immediately started with the unfinished chores. "Yosh!!! We're done!" Ren wiped off some sweat on his forehead. "Sorry for making you help Ren-kun!" Rin bowed. "No worries!" Ren smiled. "Ah! I'll cook lunch for us as thanks! Hehe just a moment okay?" Rin went in the kitchen to cook some light lunch.

While eating they talked about various stuffs. "Ah! Why weren’t you with Jinguji earlier Ren-kun?" Rin asked. "Ohh, I went ahead because I wanted to buy some comic books. I knew I'd take a long time to choose haha!" Ren answered.

At the same time, Mari and Jinguji met at the nearby train station to walk together to Rin's house. On the way there, all that Jinguji talked about was how excited he was to see Rin in a yukata. Mari just rode along with his endless talk, but deep inside she was also unconsciously excited to be with Rin, Jinguji and specially Ren.

After eating, Ren also helped in washing the dishes. "Thank you so much Ren-kun! You saved me!" Rin was so happy that she hugged Ren. "Osu! No problem Rin!" he smiled and hugged her back.

*Blaaagh* something dropped on the floor. Ren and Rin let go of each other and looked at the direction of the noise. They saw Jinguji and Mari standing in front. "Mari? Jinguji?" Rin shockingly said. Mari hurriedly picked up the things she dropped. Ren instantly helped her and asked, "You guys are quite early?" Mari nodded but before she could reply anything, Jinguji coldly answered, "tsk, well you were early too right? Let's go."

'Why? What's wrong with Jinguji?' Rin asked in her thoughts. Mari felt the awkward atmosphere so she hugged Rin and invited her to go already. Ren couldn't contain his laughter and said, "oi oi Rin, you're still not dressed for our shopping day hahaha!" Rin looked at her clothes and laughed too. Mari smiled a bit as well. However, only Jinguji had a straight face. "Ah! Wait sorry guys! Give me a few minutes hahaha. Thanks for reminding me Ren-kun hehe." Rin dashed in her room to changer her clothes.

While Rin was in her room, the mood got quiet in the living room. Jinguji was still in a bad mood and Mari was looking a bit down. Ren, clueless of what the two were feeling, put his arms around Jinguji's shoulder and whispered, "I'm excited for later bro! You too right?" Jinguji looked at him with a stern face and just nodded. "What's wrong Yuta?" Ren asked. "He's still hungry that's all haha," Mari covered up for Jinguji and handed him a biscuit. "Hmm okay..." Ren replied. No matter how Mari felt upon seeing her best friend and her crush hugging, she convinced herself that what she and Jinguji saw was nothing romantic. It was just normal since they've been friends for a long time. She knew she had to be strong because Jinguji can easily be occupied with his feelings without thinking rationally.

"Yosh! I'm ready!" Rin went out of her room. "Let's go!" Ren happily said. On the way to the shopping district, Rin noticed that Jinguji hasn't been talking much specially to her. This made Rin concerned but she was afraid to ask him what was the matter. Mari smiled at Jinguji and patted his back as if saying that he should cheer up already. Jinguji smiled back but his smile didn't reach his ears.

They soon found a good shop that sold yukata for women and men. "This looks good for you Rin! It's white but the flower designs make it lively," Mari quickly said. "Ah! You're right that looks good! Hmm but this red yukata looks cute too!" Rin couldn't choose one so she tried both of them on. "What do you think guys?" Rin asked as she went out from the fitting room. Ren and Mari said it looked good. Jinguji, on the other hand, didn't comment anything even if his gaze was only focused at Rin. "Go try the other one," Mari suggested. "Here! Look guys!" Rin twirled around playfully. "Woah! That looks better!" Ren said. "Yeah, I told you that white yukata suits you haha," Mari said then gave a quick glance at Ren who wore a big smile after seeing Rin. 'I'm so nervous! I hope Ren will say that I look good in a yukata too...,’ Mari thought. "You should pick that Rin. You look pretty wearing that..." Jinguji shyly said. "Eh?" Rin was happy to hear Jinguji’s opinion but she didn't know how to reply. She was scared that Jinguji was still in a bad mood. "Yeah I agree!" Ren butted in. "Okay! I'll pick this." Rin finally decided.

'What was that? Why didn't she say anything when I praised her? Mouuu! Why is this happening?! And I thought this will be a great day! Ughh' All kinds of thoughts were in Jinguji's mind.

"Hmm Mari, look at this. This looks cute right? Try it on!" Rin said while holding a black yukata with cherry blossoms as its design. "Okay!" Mari cheerfully said. "So how is it?" Mari said when she went out from the fitting room. "I approve!!!" Rin said as she gave two thumbs up. "I think it suits you too." Jinguji said. Mari gave out a big smile and then waited for Ren's comment. Ren blushed and covered his mouth with his left hand to hide his reddened cheeks. "I-it looks great on you.. You look beautiful!" he said stuttering. “Thank you Nagase-kun." Mari became even happier as she heard what Ren said.

It was time for the guys to pick theirs. As they were selecting, Jinguji gradually forgot how pissed he was. The two guys seemed to be in good terms now as they talked about which yukata to choose. Ren picked a dark blue yukata to match Mari's while Jinguji picked a maroon yukata since Rin likes that color too. Ren was the first to try his yukata on. "Woah! You look so grown up wearing that!" Rin said. "Yeah Ren you look so ikemen!" Jinguji exclaimed. His voice was now cheerful and it made Rin glad. Ren asked Mari and uneasily waited for her opinion. Mari looked Ren in the eyes and smiled, "It's nice! You should buy that!" Ren clinched his fists and did a fight pose. "Yosh! I'll get this one hahaha."

It was now Jinguji's turn to try his chosen yukata. He took a bit long to finish because he was too tense. 'Aghh I hope Rin will like this yukata I chose!' he thought. "Jajaaan! Stare at the star, me!" he called out to the three. "Wow! You look very handsome Yuta! Hahaha," Ren teased. "Oi, no really does it look okay?" Jinguji asked. "Yeah yeah you look mature! In a good way though~" Mari said as she made an okay sign. "They're right. You look handsome haha," Rin favorably commented. Her remark made Jinguji's heart race. "Yosh yosh yoooosh! Okay I'll take this! This summer festival will be the best!!!"

All the shopping made them hungry so they ate at a nearby ramen store. At last, the mood among the four really livened up. After eating, Rin and Mari went to the comfort room together. This gave the chance for Jinguji and Ren to secretly talk about walking home Rin and Mari separately.

They went out of the restaurant. Both the guys signaled each other carefully. "Hai! Since it's a bit late already, I think it's best for Ren to accompany Mari home and I accompany Rin home." Jinguji let out his sneaky attack. "Yeah let's do that!" Ren immediately agreed just as planned.

"Let's go?" Ren asked Mari. "Un." Mari nodded. "Bye bye Ren-kun and Mari! See you! Thanks for today!" Rin shouted. Jinguji waved at them too. Ren and Mari waved back. Both Jinguji and Rin watched their retreating backs. "Let's go too?" Jinguji tapped Rin. "Okay!" Rin smiled and said yes.

'Isn't this dejavu? Why has it been awkward when I go home alone with Jinguji recently mouuu!' Rin thought. Jinguji noticed that it was too quiet the whole time they were walking back home so he finally broke the silence. "Sorry about earlier," he said as he looked at the opposite direction. Rin slowly looked at Jinguji. She felt relieved that he was not mad anymore. "It's okay, sorry too if I did something to make you angry," she slightly bowed. Jinguji immediately held Rin's shoulders, "no no! You didn't do anything wrong! I just...misunderstood some things. Sorry!" He also bowed. After a few seconds, they both laughed at how silly they acted.

Meanwhile, Ren and Mari were also quiet in the first few minutes on the way to Mari's house. But Ren didn't want to go home without having a bit of conversation with Mari so he got all his courage and started a topic. "Today was fun huh!" Ren said. "Yeah! It sure was fun haha." Mari replied. And it ended there.

They were nearing Mari's house and yet, there was still no development. 'Aaagh what else could I say?' they both thought. "Anoo..." they said in sync. "You go first Nagase-kun," Mari said. "No no you go first Mari-chan!" Ren replied. "No seriously it's okay for you to go first," Mari insisted. "Ladies first!" Ren too insisted. The silly argument went endlessly and they ended up laughing.

The mood became good for the two pairs. But will this continue until the end?
